Of the Asia Pacific markets where commercial real estate activity fell last year from COVID-19, only Australia is well ahead of pre-pandemic levels. The growth in the Australian property markets has been extraordinary and overseas capital continues to flow in, despite the lack of migration and the ability for investors to physically come in to inspect property. However, this exponential growth won’t last forever with the rise of issues like the increasing cost of steel and timber, uncertainty in interest rates, and COVID-19 continuing to affect demand in office spaces.
In this session, BDO in Australia’s National Leader of Real Estate & Construction, Andres Reith, will host Benjamin Martin-Henry (Head of Analytics at Real Capital Analytics), and Sebastian Stevens (BDO in Australia’s National Leader of Private Equity, and Corporate Finance Partner) in a discussion on the 2022 macroeconomic conditions in real estate.
They will discuss:
- Key trends to look out for in 2022
- The boom of the industrial sector – will it continue?
- The demand for office spaces – where will commercial real estate go?
- The investment landscape
